![]() ![]() Mines (+gold) and rare resources (+research) are priority. Especially in AoW4, with new siege mechanic, which ENCOURAGES ignoring all non-throne cities, or else you'll waste lots of strategic turns on useless city captures.Īt the start of the mission your goal is to cap your city number as fast as possible, because cities give you resource income, you can even build cities very close to each other (at least >1 sector away), it doesn't matter as long as there're useful sectors. Age of Wonders is strategic assassin simulator, don't waste your time on useless 3D models of cities and armies on strategic map which play 0 role in the game. Then go to the next throne city of another enemy ruler, ignoring anything in your way. Just make a poker face and blatantly march into their territory ignoring any cities and armies, and go directly to their throne city, siege it, capture it and BOOM all their armies and useless cities are independent now. Don't waste your strategic turns on useless non-throne cities. Don't forget AoW4, just like AoW Planetfall and AoW3 aren't 4X strategy games. To me, the feel is just different from a "handcrafted" map and gameplay experience that campaigns usually contain, no matter how well the map generator works or how many little disconnected quest-tidbits it strews across the map.Doomstacks of Warbreeds: they regenerate like crazy, orc's angel stacks will simply attack and then evaporate, while your warbreed will just stand there like nothing happened and continue moving towards his throne city. Neither in games where they were extra, nor in games that were "based" on skirmish maps. While, if its even remotely as good as the earlier installments, i know its more than worth those 20$ at current daily, the MAIN reason I did not get it yet was because I'm not a big fan of "detached scenarios" or skirmishes. So it was with some fear that i read campaign was taking a backseat this time.?Ĭould somebody give me numbers there, how long is the campaign mode of this game?(if multiple campaigns exist, just overall and an educated guess).and are there decisions to be made during the campaign that go down different plot branches? Doesn't need to be dramatic ![]() Played the campaign at least 4 times and ended up with Elves/Dwarfs/Halfling Alliance, with Undead Alliance and with the Desert Zealot Guys and who knows what else.(just remember those). I loved Julia's Journey in the first Age of Wonders. ![]()
